Photography has been a favorite hobby of mine since my teen years, about 16, where I use to take photos of anyone, anything or any object.

Why The Nokia N95 8GB?

These days I take photos for personal use, to show to family and friends, or post them onto my websites and blogs for the world to see. MySpace for example...as of January, 2008, have uploads of up to 8 million images a day. One of these photos could be from a mobile phone!

These days I use a Nokia N95 8GB mobile phone; a Canon 350D SLR EOS digital camera with a Sigma 50-500mm zoom lens; and a Sony camcorder, to do still photography or video recordings. In the pass I have used a Nokia 6234 mobile phone, a Canon SLR film camera, a Panasonic camcorder, an Olympus 300 and a C150 digital camera.

I do not have any specific skills in photography, but I do get a great deal of satisfaction with the outcome of my photos. At times when it's not convenient to take the digital camera and the camcorder around because they are too bulky and too heavy, the Nokia N95 8GB comes in very handy. It is small, more convenient and lighter than the Canon 350 with it's Sigma lens. I use the Nokia quite a lot, but sometimes I found that you have to be real quick to take a photo of something interesting. For me it's like I have to have the camera on at all times, because you just cannot tell what will show up around the corner.

Our Younger Generation

We are living in an age where mobile phone usage amongst our younger generation is at an all time high. No other generation in history have ever been so privileged with so many different gadgets that are available on the market. With the advancement of technology in the field of mobile phones our youngsters are taking photos and videos of each other, sending txt messages to each other, sending pix to each other, or connecting to the internet via their mobile phones.

The convenience of a mobile phone is that it is light-weight, it fits perfectly in your pocket. You can call a Cab with it, hook up with a friend, and when something catches your eye while you're on the move, out comes the mobile phone and click, a simple photo is taken. You may not get the best results as you would with a professional digital camera, but at least you get to capture whatever catches your interest.

Convenience is really the word amongst many of my young friends who have mobile phones. They cannot be seen without their best mate gadget, they must have it with them everywhere they go. My conclusion is that this new form of technology has really taken a hold on our younger generation, and to lure them to this market there is an all out competition by mobile phone giants to bring out the best products. These two photos below were taken with a Nokia 6234.

A Collectors Item

Photography has really seen a lot of changes, where the bulky camera's of yester-year are like a collectors item nowadays. But believe it or not there are collectors out there looking for these prized, rare, valuable and very expensive items. So if you still have in your possession a very old camera, do some research into it's value, People will buy anything whether they work or not. And Ebay is the place to advertise them, your valueless yester-year collectors camera maybe worth hundreds if not thousands.

The 1888 Patent " Le Merveilleux by J. Lancaster & Son

The Le Merveilleux was Lancaster's lowest priced series of cameras for the amateur. The camera itself is a primitive folding view design constructed of polished mahogany with brass trim. A simple meniscus achromatic lens, standard for the Le Merveilleux, was mounted in a brass tube that slides forwards and backwards for focusing.

For more information click on the camera icon...

My Hobby A Fascination

I have always had a fascination with photography. You never know how one photo will turn out until it is printed. What makes a photo involves a lot of things, the use of the flash indoors or outdoors, in a hurry to take a photo, bright sunlight, cloudy conditions, dark background, taking photos of someone standing in the shade on a bright sunny day, exposure, shaking, etc....all play a part in the outcome of your photo.

If you're a professional Photographer, the equipment must be able to handle all kinds of situations or settings. And you also have to understand when and where to take a photo. For me this is where the fun comes in, I do not possess the skills or the right equipment for all situations, but as long as I can take a photo, that's all that matters. I also found that taking more than one shot of the same object from different angles, can reap different results. Capturing some moments on camera at anytime will always turn into a prized photo. I even save some of my blurred photos, they really look great on the computer, as though it was taken by a professional photographer.

The Difference

Many photos and videos posted on the internet these days are from mobile phones. There are tons of them posted online, it is amazing and incredible. With these photos you are able to view others and their country of origin. You get see how they live in their respective mother land. You get to see the state of their country, rich or poor, you get to see their villages, town or city. You get to see their personality through iLens, that is the power of the camera combined with the internet.

I have put together a slide show in the video box below, can you pick the photos taken with a mobile phone? Very hard to tell. They are just as good as a professional photo taken by a Professional Photographer.

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v8.nonxt4.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Dfb9a60e153db6443%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331482476%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D21EADA7EDCD1EA08B449D964DF7230C3E3344195.52A74B02051D7898573200385E54B9C355C1308C%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Dfb9a60e153db6443%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DW0R7eHMfFfhvhiSgJhqdAACpeu0&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Bookmark This Site

Copyright © 2008-2010 Jesse Evans
